QUESTION: To Spanx or not to Spanx?
Personally I find shape wear really confusing. I’m worried It’ll smoosh all my fat in and I won’t be able to sit or breathe. Or if I wear those little bike shorts that my bum will be all perfect and smooth but then I’ll have a big belly sticking out over the top or I’ll need to go to the bathroom and struggle to get in or out of them. LOL.
If you can master the art of wearing Spanx then you’re a better woman than me. There are a lot of positives too. Here’s a few reasons to love shapewear and things for you to consider if you choose to Spanx it up!
1.Spanx vs Chub Rub If you want to wear a dress or skirt and suffer from chub rub (as I do) then you’ll either need to wear an anti chafing cream, leggings or wear Spanx. Shapewear is essentially a 2-in-1 solution for chub rub. My only advice is be mindful of the weather.
2. What’s the event? Is this a romantic date and are you going to have a Bridget Jones moment at the end of the night when you have to get your kit off? If your man sees your Spanx underwear will he have to help oil you up to pull them off? My Advice: Wear Spanx to events where you know you’re not getting lucky at the end of the night.
3. Can you see the Spanx? It happens to everyone including celebs on the red carpet. That moment when you can see the peaking out underneath the dress or skirts. Think about the length of your dress, how you naturally move and sitting before you decide on your shapewear.
4. Wear a slip: The point of Spanx is to look as though you’re not wearing it and naturally look shapely. If people can your shapewear then the illusion is broken. One way to hide it is to wear a slip so if the wind blows your skirt up people will see that and not your spanx.
Good luck in your Spanx quest Lauren!
