It’s Mother’s Day this month and I’m celebrating by teaming up with Gwynnie Bee to highlight one of my earliest and greatest fashion inspirations. My Mum!
These are actual photographs taken more than 30 years ago with real film (the kind you had to take to the pharmacy and wait a week to be developed). Here we are rocking matching floral dresses in the park and short hairstyles.
Meanwhile in this photo I’m rocking a pink floral pink bonnet and dress.
You can see how the fun summer bright florals above inspired my closeting of this little number.
It’s a scuba fit-and-flare dress with boatneck, defined waist, and concealed back zip. I’d say this London Times flared dress in blue floral is a more elegant interpretation of the original inspiration.
My mum and I rocked the florals in the ’70s and now were doing it in 2016!
I wasn’t about to stop at one look I combined mum’s floral inspiration with a nautical theme blue stripe, which I felt leveled up the sophistication factor. I think she would approve of the mix & match trend.
It’s a scuba fit-and-flare with boatneck, striped bodice with floral print skirt, pockets and exposed zip back.
Happy Mother’s Day and thanks to all the mums who have been inspirational through fashion and every way possible.
