I never thought a size 22, 5’5″ model would be possible then Tess Holliday came along and showed us differently. She is now a household name and labelled a supermodel on the cover of People Magazine’s 2015 Body Issue.
“Nobody was interested… I got one call back and they said, ‘Look, you have a pretty face, but you’re too short and you’re too big.’”
I am personally in awe of her hard work and determination over the past 15 years of hearing no and continuing to work toward her goal anyway.
“I just knew that I could do it,” she says. “I wasn’t the best, and I still am not the best. They key to it is just doing it.”
I am most excited for the younger generation who now has so many positive plus size role models achieving massive success.
Tess was the first size 22 model to be signed with major fashion agency MiLK in January, which was the point her career exploded in the international media.
“My phone still hasn’t stopped ringing. “It’s good, but it’s a lot!”
Good on you Tess, thanks for the inspiration. You have millions of girls cheering around the world cheering you on.
