Twenty years ago I was sitting in a Jenny Craig consultation with a bag of pre-packed food in front of me and a form asking me what my ‘dream outfit’ was once I reached my goal weight of 53kg/ 116lbs (spoiler I never reached that weight LOL).
My answer was long boots, short black skirt, denim jacket and fishnets. I don’t know where this idea of cool or sexy came from (maybe it’s because I was a teenager in the 90s) but this has been my benchmark of ‘when I lose weight’ I’ll wear that.
Even with the plus size fashion revolution and availability of wide calf boots I still never thought I could wear that because I have such a wide foot. Then a few weeks ago I got a pair of Kixies thigh highs from Crystal Bougon of Curvy Girl Lingerie. I was sure they would be like all the others and roll down and was so surprised that they didn’t. The other great news is because they are thigh highs I won’t be busting a hole in the thigh or the crotch!
I was so inspired by the Kixies I went online and bought a pair of boots from Simply Be to go with my thigh high fishnets. I measured my calves and feet and got the EEE width boot in size 9 black leather. They arrived and actually fit! It took me 20 years and I’m triple the size of what I thought I should be when I was sitting in the chair and Jenny Craig and you know what? I look and feel fabulous! I’ve been feeling so confident in this outfit. It’s all thanks to the Kixies as a strting point.
I thought I’d feel festive with my red dress from my latest Gwynnie Bee haul. It’s a ponte-knit fit-and-flare with scoop neck and elbow-length sleeves, exposed back zip, allover embossed floral print. No, don’t know what ‘ponte-knit’ is. It’s pretty thick and comfy fabric.
I just love winter clothes and couldn’t resist added my hat and scarf for a snuggly afternoon out (both were less than $10 at Ross.) See ALL of my Gywnnie Bee looks from my monthly subscription and get yourself a 30 day free trial.
